covid response

Weston UMC takes very seriously the mandate to love others as we have been loved, and to do no harm. We have taken great care during the pandemic to follow the science and listen to the experts on the virus and its transmission.

Our Covid Re-entry/Response Team has affirmed the decision to follow in the footsteps of the Weston School System and lift our mask mandate for worship and while inside our buildings. This move was made after reviewing the Weston DPH, CDC, and NE Annual Conference's recommendations related to in-person gatherings, viral transmission risks, vaccination rates, and congregational singing advisories.

While the pandemic continues, there are certainly still risks associated with gatherings, especially for those who are immunocompromised or too young to get vaccinated. Continuing to maintain social distance and wearing masks/face-coverings helps reduce the risks to these populations. Members of our WUMC community and visitors are actively encouraged to advocate for themselves and their neighbors, and to take precautions that serve their health. This is an intentional and vital aspect of our ministry of radical hospitality and welcome.

Reconciling Congregation

We, the people of the Weston United Methodist Church, openly welcome persons of any age, gender identity, race, ethnic origin, economic reality, sexual orientation or diverse ability, as full participants in the life and work of this reconciling community of faith. We believe all persons are of sacred worth created in the image of God. We recognize there are differences among us, but we believe we can love alike even though we may not think alike. We invite all to join us in our journey together with Jesus toward greater love, inclusion, understanding and mutual respect.

Holy Communion
